Pet potty training can be a nightmare, and we understand this well at Very Important Pet. Los Angeles pets may have it a little tougher than other parts of the country, with busy owners who are at work or fighting traffic most of the day. As a Los Angeles pet store, who better to share some key tips for potty training?
One of the basic tenets of successful potty training is confinement. It’s integral for puppies to be confined for a period to facilitate potty training. Most dogs do not want to eliminate where they’re living at the moment, so confinement to a cage, crate or small partitioned area is a great start. Another key element of confinement is that your puppy can earn freedom by eliminating appropriately—the best time to let your puppy out of his confined area is AFTER eliminating appropriately outside. Make sure that you are there to supervise this “free time,” so that any urge to eliminate inappropriately can be addressed immediately. A partition or baby gate is a great way to restrict the puppy’s “free area.” Attach a short leash attached to the puppy’s collar so that you can quickly catch the puppy without grabbing for him. Visit www.myveryimportantpet.com for the perfect collars and leashes for this stage of the potty training game.
Good luck potty training your Los Angeles pets!
